Various Popular Badge Holders 

Wearing an id badge is not difficult if you have a great id badge holder that fits in your regular workday. If you are a professional who needs a security card to access secure areas throughout the day, you want to look for an attachment style that enchances your credibility. If you are a construction worker, you may wish to use a holder that does not get in your way and holds up under the most difficult environments. Badge Clips 

This is the most common form of a badge holder. The id card will contain a hole from a slot punch that the vinyl strap is inserted into. The clip on the end of the strap holds the card onto clothing.

Lanyards 

Lanyards come in many sizes and with many options. Some lanyards are beaded while most lanyards are made of nylon cord. The standard lanyard sizes for id badge holding is 3/8 inch or 5/8 inch. The most popular of these lanyards have a breakaway clasp that allows the cord to be detached from the neck in case of emergency and then resnaped back together for continued wearing.

There are many colors with standard lanyards. There are also many ends. Stainless steel hook ends are popular as well as bull dog clip, split ring and plastic hook.

Custom Lanyards 

Custom lanyards have additional options over standard lanyards. Although each of the above options can be selected with custom lanyards, these allow for a logo and/or text to be printed on the cord. Some lanyards are hot stamped and some are sewn with the text or logo. Newer capabilities of customizing lanyards are available each year.

Badge Reels 

Badge Reels allow a card to be worn securely. When the card is pulled, the cord from inside the badge reel is released, allowing the badge to extend from it’s normal placement and be used to swipe a reader. With the release of the card, the cord retracts into the reel and pulls the card back up into a wearing position.

Armband Holders 

These holders allow the badge to be inserted into a plastic pouch that is carried on the arm. An elastic holder secures the pouch to the outside of the cardholder’s arm allowing for easy viewing and security in a harsh environment. An example of when armband holders might be beneficial is with airline baggage handlers. The workers need both hands and arms for their job, but have ID accessible for quick manuvering through the work area.
