Lanyard Styles

There are a number of different lanyard styles, sizes and options. No matter what, there is a lanyard style out there that may work for your situation.

Following are popular jobs where employees need to wear identification badges and often use a lanyard to carry and display their badge.

Professional Business Office

Employees of small to large businesses often have employee ids. Some are for identification only, but some cards are multifunctional and are used frequently throughout the day.

Lanyards worn by business employees need to reflect a professional style. There are lanyards made to look like a piece of jewelry and also nice flat nylon lanyards that fit the color scheme of the organization.

Educator

Educators are always on the move. Having a breakaway lanyard is of most importance as they are geared for safety. If a lanyard is pulled from a wearer’s neck, the safety feature will snap and let the lanyard loose from the wearer. Once the lanyard is retrieved, it normally can be snapped back together for continued wear.

Often schools are interested in custom lanyards which will display their school name or school logo. Although additional time is needed to receive these completed lanyards, they make great gifts and increase school spirit.

Student ids are also common today. Lanyards are used by many school districts for student badge attachments.

Security – Police and Military

Lanyards may or may not be the best option for security personel. Although it is important for badges to be visable, a lanyard provides freedom for the badge to move around the chest area. In an emergency situation, personnel need to be free to concern themselves with the situation at hand and not a flying badge. It is recommended that a more secure badge attachment be used for these personnel.

Health Care Employees

Health care employees are often required to display their badge and use their badge to access secure areas of the care center. There are a number of different badge attachments that may be useful. A lanyard would be an excellent option. There are lanyards with a reel on the end. The reel could provide an extension for the employee to access a secured door by easily pulling on the card to the desired length to be read by the reader.
